Firstly, set the Traeger temperature to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or 12 minutes at 400 degrees while the lid is closed.
Secondly, season the pork shoulder all over with the pork and poultry rub.
Implant the probe in the middle of the roast, leaving out the bone and any fats present. Â
Furthermore, position the roast directly on the grill grates with the fat side up and close the top, and smoke for about 3 hours. Put the apple juice in a spray bottle and spray the roast after an hour and every hour afterward.
Shift the pork to enough aluminum foil and seal tightly. Adjust the temperature to at least 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the foil with the pork on grill grates, close the top of the grill, and proceed with grilling for 6 to 8 hours or until the internal temperature is at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Gently transfer the pork to a clean chopping board and let the pork rest for 15 minutes. Discard the fats if present.
Using your hand, pull the pork into chunks and discard the bones. Pull the chunks one by one into shreds and put them in a clean large bowl.
Season the pulled pork with extra rub and add your favorite Traeger bbq sauce and mix evenly.
Spread mayonnaise on the split buns, add iceberg lettuce and pickled onions on the bottom bun then add the pulled pork and finish off by adding the upper bun.
