How To Make Paratha Flatbread
Paratha is another Indian flatbread that tastes great. You need to try out this Indian recipe.
The paratha recipe is similar to roti but the only difference is that paratha is a bit flaky and crispier than roti.
Paratha flatbread Ingredients
- ½ cup of warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Procedure
Make sure you don’t use hot water or very cold water. The right temperature should be right in the middle. It should be warm water that allows you to put your finger in without getting burned.
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and knead the dough for about 13 minutes.
If you are going to eat the chapati right away you can continue with the procedure.
However, if you want to keep the dough to be used later, it is also possible if you cover the bowl with cling film. Store the dough in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Get out your non-stick frying pan and preheat it on medium heat on your stove.
Divide the dough into 6 to 8 pieces depending on the size of the chapati you prefer.
It’s now time to roll your paratha. Pour a little flour on your rolling surface and roll the chapati using a rolling pin or glass soda bottle until it forms a nice flat and round shape.
After rolling the paratha, it’s time to cook.
Put one paratha on your preheated non-stick frying pan.
Next, put a little vegetable oil on the frying pan and the paratha for about 1 minute and then turn to the other side and also heat it for one minute.
Heating the flatbread with oil is what gives the flaky texture of the paratha as compared to the other Indian flatbreads.
Do this for all the pieces.
When you are done cooking, keep the chapati on a tray and cover it with a cloth until you are ready to serve.
