The french toast comes out best when you use thick slices of french bread or brioche that is several days old for example 2 to 3 days, such bread is firm enough and can withstand the egg mixture when dipped or soaked in.

Ingredients For The French Toasts
- French bread
- Brioche (optional use brioche or french bread)
- 4 eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 8 thick slices of bread
- Strawberries (optional)
Steps To Follow When Making French Toasts
- Firstly, whisk the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt together in a clean bowl
- Secondly, melt the butter on the griddle or skillet on medium heat( this prevents the french toast from getting burnt)
- Then dip the french bread or brioche in the egg mixture soaking both sides
- transfer to the hot pan and cook bread slices on a lightly greased non-stick griddle or skillet
- Serve with maple syrup or honey if you want to
Key points to be noted
- Nutmeg can be substituted with cinnamon. Please note that they both have strong tastes always regulate/ use the correct measurements always
- Using ingredients in excess always changes the taste of the french toast
- Always regulate the heat cook at medium heat to prevent the french toast from burning.
